Old McMuñoz Had a Tractor!

Uh Huh. Mr. Muñoz has been wanting an old little tractor for years now so that he can haul dirt over from one side of the house to the other, clean up around the house and actually just play around with it.

So, yesterday as we were driving home from Sweetwater, about a mile or so from Jesse and Mona Deloera's house, he spotted the damn tractor of his life! I thought to myself, please don't let him turn back. Well. He did. And yes, he did buy the ugly tractor.

So, there goes my newly ordained farmer and his tractor on the side road off I-20.
I wanted so bad to just pass him and get the hell home, because the Tractor of My Life doesn't go over maybe 20 miles per hour. I couldn't do that to him though, it was really hot and humid. I thought, " what if he passes out from a heat stroke, or dies of thirst, I would never forgive myself.

For about 2 hours, I would pass him and park about a mile or so ahead, (usually under the underpasses where I had a good shade). Sit and listen to the radio, till I could see Old McMuñoz coming up behind me. I'd let him pass me, he'd smile and wave each time. We continued this about 5 or 6 times down the interstate. Till we got to Loraine, I really needed to get to the bathroom, (during this not so exciting drive home, I managed to down my coke and a bottle of water). I still couldn't find it in my heart to leave him on the road by himself. I managed to hold off till I turned off on our county road to the house. BOY! I FLOORED IT THEN! !

Well, he made it home. Comes inside the house and says, "Gotta take back the tractor in the morning, having trouble changing gears, gotta be the transmission" (all of a sudden he knows all about the worthless tractor)!

So, I suppose you're wondering if we took the tractor back? Yes. Indeed we did. Same trip, opposite side of I-20, but today, I didn't leave the house until maybe half hour after he left.
I still caught up with him just outside Loraine. I was hoping he'd be further along. This time I passed him and went onto Roscoe, picked up some good hot coffee, muffin and newspaper, found me a nice place to park along I-2o. Enjoyed the hell out of my breakfast and daily paper.
As for McMuñoz, he seemed a little down, but at the same time he was thankful he had found it was messing up, cause he couldn't have been able to afford the repairs.

I hope now that he took his little ride on his dream tractor, he can forget about it and get himself back to work tomorrow.

Hilarious! Sorry Juan didn't get his tractor, though.

This story is not surprising to me. It's actually pretty damn typical. Tell the one about the Red Ranchero...that one I enjoy.

Funny story but too bad the dream tractor didn't work out for him.
