It's Over

Well, since Thursday, May 14th, Dad is finally a free Man!

His last day was May 31st, but he left 2 weeks early cause the guys that are now replacing the retirees are having to train for a couple of weeks.

He is so excited! I can't recall what I asked him yesterday, something to do with a certain date, and instantly out of habit, he got up and started to check his monthly schedule. SURPRISE! No more nasty schedules on the refrigerator.

He now has so much to do, he doesn't know where to start. What he doesn't know is that I've already got a list (a rather long list) of things that need to be done. I'll blog in about a week or so to report whether anything on the to do list has been checked off.

Last Countdown!

Finally got some much needed rain huh? not as much as the Metroplex! Here in West Texas we got about a fourth of what you guys there got. Hey, we'll take it, after all, it's better than nothing.

It seems like maybe, just maybe I've got my family back to normal. Had been having trouble with Mom and Dad's health for the last month or so. They both seem to be doing alot better.

It can be really stressful when they are both down at the same time.

Now they are both out and about almost every day.

I usually call daily to check up on them, and when I do, Dad answers his cell phone because they are already up and down Interstate 20! !

Let me tell you, I'd rather they be burning gas and not in the hospital.

Changing the subject a little. Remember a few entries ago, I wrote about Dad's (John) retirement? Well, it's here!

His last day should be May 31, 2009!

We are both so excited.

37 years at Texas Electric Power Plant.!

J.G. and Cindy have planned a special weekend celebration for him in honor of his retirement, and he's really excited and looking forward to it. Promise to take plenty of pictures and share them with all of you.

Here above is a picture of Dad at work. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was taken in 1979. He was 31 years old. Time does fly. He's turning 61 this coming July. I thank God daily he has let us have him around this long. Life would not be the same without him.
