Passed by my Dad's house earlier and saw him pulling weeds in his vegetable garden. Doesn't look like the same man some 40 years ago. He had a birthday yesterday and turned 84. Which led me to think of a certain incident some 40 years ago. (Give this old lady an applause! I can still think 40 years back!)
Ok, so it was on a Saturday morning and my Dad and brother Eddie were taking Walter, their old male goat to the auction barn. He had been replaced by a younger "Fabio" looking goat. So it was his turn to step down and let Fabio knock their lady goats off their feet.
I'm sure Walter took one look at Fabio, and that's all he needed to get him in a pissed off mood. Boy, was he fuming! My Dad and Eddie had parked the stock trailer near the entrance to their house and they put a rope around Walter's neck and tried walking him to the trailer. Apparently Walter had decided he wasn't gonna make it easy for them.
He gave them a really hard time getting him onto the trailer.
First he got away from my brother and ran off with the rope around his neck. They finally managed to bring him back and give it another try to load him up again.
Boy, this time all three were very upset. Walter was about to explode by now. They managed to load him up, but he was so furious, he tripped the latch on the trailer and got loose again!
Ok, third try at getting him back. Dad and Eddie were working up a really good sweat by now and what was coming out of their mouths is not worth repeating. Alrighty, again Walter gets caught again. Another try for the trailer. By now Walter is huffing and puffing and seriously thinking of bucking whoever gets in his way. So, he starts chasing both Dad and Eddie now, (oh, forgot to tell you, Walter has good size horns on him.) He aims for Dad. Both Dad and Eddie not having anywhere to take cover, so they jump in the trailer! So, they're inside the trailer and Walter is staring at them giving them the "it's over for you" look. That was so funny watching both Dad and Eddie holding on to the bars on the trailer staring at Walter, and Walter is still huffing and puffing and staring right back at them.
The picture was completely reversed. Wasn't it suppose to be the other way around?
They tried letting him cool off awhile and slowing tried getting off the trailer and Walter met them right outside the trailer door.
They tried a few minutes later, determined to finally get out regardless of what Walter had up his sleeves. (sleeves?) They managed to get out and step away a few feet when here he comes again. Both flew back into the trailer and this time Daddy loses his hat and Walter flattened it like a pancake. Ok, two attempts and one flattened hat later, Walter walks off headed to the coral to take one last look at Fabio and his lady friends. There Dad and Eddie handcuffed him and read him his rights and Old Walter went willingly this time.
Who says there isn't any fun at the farm?
All this time Daddy and Eddie had no clue Mom and I had been watching the whole incident through the living room window! What fun.

I DO remember this story now!!! I had to think back a little and can't even understand how I would forget it! This picture was all wrong! Hilarious!
I can just picture Eddie and Tata looking out from the trailer (through the bars) and Walter glaring right back at them from outside the trailer!!!
One of the best family stories EVER!
This was too funny! And so well written, Cecilia! Enjoyed it!
